Boston Teen Summit

Three youth leaders from SWICN’s Computer Clubhouse are heading to Boston, Massachusetts today, for the Boston Teen Summit 2010. There they will join up with nearly 300 other young people, ages 13 to 18, from 20 countries, including Russia, Jordan, Israel, South Africa, Palestine, New Zealand, India, Brazil, and the United States.

VLab Trip

 

On a trip to the IADT, Clubhouse members could see the VLab, a new 3D system, and learn about its possibilities.

In "four wall technique", a virtual room is built using using a big cube made up of three walls and a floor that act as screens of four projectors. Mini-marathon 2010

The Computer Clubhouse was proud to have eight lovely ladies (including auntie Mazie & Gabi, top right picture) in this years Flora Women's Mini-Marathon. The weather wasn't great but this didn't dampen spirits. It was a cracking day out and everyone involved seemed to really enjoy themselves.

Gender Awareness Workshop

During February and March of 2010, Johanka, the Youth Worker from SWICN Youth service, facilitated a Gender Awareness Workshop here at the Computer Clubhouse.

Annual Showcase Awards

Intel Foundation Scholarship Award

At the Annual Showcase 2010 a mentor and alumni member Abdul Al Hassan was presented with a $5,000 scholarship enabling him to continue his studies in Engineering at Dublin City University. Abdul was presented with his scholarship by the Minister Conor Lenihan TD.

Through the generosity of the Adobe Foundation's Global Philanthropy Program the Adobe Youth Voices has come to the Computer Clubhouse. Visitors from Japan

On Thursday the 25th of February 2010 at the Computer Clubhouse Dr. Takashi Sawaguchi and three of his colleauges visit to inquire about setting up their own Computer Clubhouse in Japan.

If they do manage to set a Clubhouse up they would be asking students of the nearby Shohoku College to act as mentors to the young people. Shohoku College was set up by the founder of Sony, which is located nearby and a possible partner for the project.
