Intel Foundation Scholarship Award
At the Annual Showcase 2010 a mentor and alumni member Abdul Al Hassan was presented with a $5,000 scholarship enabling him to continue his studies in Engineering at Dublin City University. Abdul was presented with his scholarship by the Minister Conor Lenihan TD.
Abdul received this award through his associations with the Computer Clubhouse as well as his dedication to his studies. A little over one year ago he exhibited at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition (2008) as the Inventor of a road safety device which won him much acclaim and in Abdul's own words,
“The Computer Clubhouse has been very important in my life here in Dublin. Being part of it has made my life a lot more interesting and opened up many new opportunities for me. It has also, very importantly, allowed me to meet new and good Irish people who have become my friends".
Boston Teen Summit
On Tuesday 11th May at the Annual Showcase Day 2010 two hard-working and talented members, Jade and Aoife, were presented with a prize for their outstanding achievements at the Computer Clubhouse.
Conor Lenihan TD, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation presented the well-deserving young people with their award which is a trip to Boston for a week in July to represent the SWICN Computer Clubhouse at this years Teen Summit.
Their achievements was no mean feet consisting of different projects, one of their choice, a community video, a presentation about the Teen Summit and an interview. In all eight hopeful applicants applied but the Clubhouse are proud to be sending Jade and Aoife as their projects and ongoing dedication to the Clubhouse is a credit to both them and the Club.
